Thank you to all who have prayed for a resurgence of family values, ethics and morality. As the news of the “pregnancy pact” made by at least 15 girls (all under the age of 16) in Massachusetts spreads through the Internet chat rooms and magazine articles our thoughts and prayers should be squarely focused on increasing our strength in family values. Questions about why these teenage girls would agree to get pregnant together have been circulating, without any clear answers or responses from these teenagers. Some have blamed movies, for glamorizing teen pregnancy while others have blamed young unmarried celebrities for the appeal. One answer that seems to make the most sense is the lack of family foundations. This is a small town that has been suffering an economic crunch and a decline in two parent households. Many of these girls are looking for unconditional love that they feel can only come from having a baby of their own. They were so desperate for this pact to be successful that one of the father's has been identified as a 24 year old homeless man. Jesus is very clear about what it takes to be a proper mother or father, and it is our responsibility to follow his teachings. We must continue to pray together as families, uniting in prayer to ask for Jesus' guidance in our homes and in our lives. It is through His help that we will be able to rekindle the values that have been lost to our society. Our prayers, one family at a time, will make a difference in the future of our society and the future of our families. ****************************** United in prayers is a grassroots effort, that uses text messaging technology to unite Christians, who believe that simultaneous group prayer can influence the stream of events around the world. |
