A Group Prayer session Delivered me from Cocaine Addiction

Hello, I live in Hendersonville, TN. I am a forty year old Christian man, but I wasn't always. I was baptized at the age of twelve. I had no idea what that meant. At the age of fifteen I began to try alcohol. Within a short while I was smoking pot. I was still attending church as a teenager, but that's all I was doing. By the age of twenty I was doing cocaine on a regular basis, all the while ignoring the tug at my heart. This would continue until the age of thirty-four.

I was married in June of 1991, and in June of 1993, my wife was gone, killed in a car crash on her way home from work. There I was, something I didn't want to be. At the age of thirty-two, I was a widowed father. I didn't know where to turn. After I truly came to know my Savior, at times I would wonder, if only I could have met Him sooner, not realizing that I had.(at the age of twelve) I finally came to see, that I can't change what happened yesterday, but I can do all I can to better tomorrow.

In April of 1994, I was arrested with one-half ounce of cocaine. February 1995 I was put in jail for what I had done.(for one year). For the first month I was there I blamed everyone except myself, until one day a man came to see me. He told me about a man, two thousand years ago, who gave His life, that I might have life. He also told me about an initiative at his church that used group prayer to pray for people in need. After he left, I opened the bible my mom sent to me. I was not looking for anything, I was just opening a book. When I opened it, it was at Psalm 51, I began to read, and before you know it, I was crying, and on my knees, not aware of my surroundings. I received something that day, SALVATION, and with that salvation came deliverance. I did not know it at that time, but later learned that this group prayer session, the man had told me about, was gathered and praying for ME at this exact time!

I was a five hundred dollar a day cocaine user, I was an alcoholic, I was dirty, I was a thief, I was partners with the devil, and God set me free. I am so thankful to God and the amazing people who gathered in group prayer because I am not any of those things anymore, I am not a recovering drug addict, I am not a recovering alcoholic, or anything else, I AM FREE. On April 5th, 1995, in a jail cell, the man that came to see me that day in March, baptized me, and I fully understood what I was doing, I was becoming a follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
